Welcome to mt. pinatubo Day Tour!

Mt. Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano in the Zambale Mountains, located at the tripoint boundary of the Philippine provinces of Zambales, Tarlac and Pampanga, all in Central Luzon on the northern island of Luzon.

Its eruptive history was unknown to most before the pre-erruption volcanic activities in 1991, just before June. Pinatubo was heavily eroded, in inconspicious and obscured from view. It was covered with dense forests which supported a population of several thousand indegenous Aetas.

Trekking Pinatubo offers you a once in a life time private tour to hike the picturesque Mount Pinatubo and view the turquoise waters of the volcanic Crater Lake.

Depart from Metro Manila at dawn and drive roughly two and a half hours north in an air-conditioned luxury minibus, here you will board a old 4×4 Filipino Jeep and enjoy a thrilling drive across Crow Valley, a moon-like terrain, with vast ash fields and rocky rivers. On the way you will have the opportunity to stop at an Aeta Village for an additional cost and enjoy interacting with one of the oldest indigenous tribes in the Philippines. You will hike up towards the summit passing through sandy cliffs and up a single trail mountain path. The views of the Crater Lake are breathtaking and worth every minute of the trek. Relax – you have plenty of time, take in the incredible surroundings, bask in the sun and enjoy the views of the lake before returning to Sta. Juliana.

Back at Sta. Juliana -we will stop at Alvin’s Place. You have the option of having a toilet break, shower, home cooked food, refreshments and resting your weary legs. For food we recommend you bring your own packed breakfast and drinks to keep you hydrated for the hike. After you have finished your hike you can stop at Alvin’s Place or a restaurant along the route for lunch.

On our journey back to Manila you have the the chance to visit Capas National Shrine where you can experience the horrors faced by the U.S. and Filipino POW soldiers who were interned for much of WW2 at Camp O’Donnell. The history of the area is fascinating and well worth a stop. Depending on traffic – you should arrive back in Manila before7.00 pm.

Depart From: Mall of Asia (Assembly Place) or Free private pick up from your house or hotel in Metro Manila. There is an additional fee for pick ups and drop offs from Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Alabang Village and parts of Marikina, Taguig & Paranaque.

Departure Time:

3.00 to 3.30 am. The cut off time for registration at Mount Pinatubo is 06.00 am so it is extremely important that we leave on time.

Option 1: The hike is roughly 5.5 km (2 hours walking) each way with a total ascent of 300 metres. The terrain is relatively flat until the last 20 minutes where you ascend to the rim of the Crater Lake using a single trail. Physical fitness is required and there is a minimum age requirement of 8 yrs old.

Option 2: The hike is roughly 30 minutes ascending to the rim of the Crater Lake using a single trail. This option is not always available as the road getting to the start of the trail is often difficult to access. Physical fitness is required

Swimming in the Crater Lake is forbidden (as of 1st January 2013).

Age Limit:
Minimum of 8 years old and a maximum of 60 years old on the longer hike. All guests are required to present identification as proof of age.

What to bring:
We recommend bringing a small backpack, sun-cream, change of clothing, lots of water, and a pair of strong legs. The most ideal shoes are crocs or something similar as you will be crossing small streams on the trek.
