Welcome!
The Picasso
An old building. An exciting street life. A great artist. Creatively fused together, this dynamic and inspired combination gave birth to The Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences, a place where art and passion live.
Conceived as a place that engages visitors and viewers in a series of layers of discoveries, The Picasso will delight you with its many creative touches that unfold as you explore the residences and as you come back for another stay. |
Stylish
| At the heart of the concept for The Picasso, says architect Dominic Galicia of Dominic Galicia Architects, is the idea of Cubism. "It's the idea of seeing one thing, an object in space, from different vantage points and then reassembling those different views into a new form. So you're taking an object that you see every day and seeing it in a totally new way - that's the chord in Picasso that struck us." Given the task of repurposing an old landmark into something new and exciting, Galicia, together with interior designer Tina Periquet of Periquet Galicia, turned to Pablo Picasso's art for inspiration. The design team transformed the building into a canvas for reimagining something old into something vibrant and new. |
Engaging
From the very first, the idea of exploring and discovering, of engaging the visitor, was a keystone in The Picasso's design. "What's the purpose of a place like this? It's an engine - an engine of art, an engine of city life," Galicia says. "It brings in new people and new ideas. It's a great way for someone visiting from abroad to learn about and see our city." And because Salcedo Village is one of the few places in the city that is truly conducive to walking, to exploration on foot, The Picasso was built to engage the street life around the area. From your first sight of the two-level lobby to the unfolding of the original pictures formed across the balcony fins on the facade, you will be treated to a show that evolves before your very eyes.
"The whole thing encourages investigation. The façade, for example, can only be understood over time," Galicia grins. Pictures that assemble only when you see the facade from a certain angle; ceiling mirrors that reflect the street scene back to you as you work out or sip your morning coffee, or reflect what's inside the Function Room or gym to the pedestrians on the street; carefully chosen paintings gracing the interior; found objects that meld the past with the present; significant visual elements inspired by art and artist alike--there will always be something to engage your senses. Nor will the display be static as Art Cabinet at The Picasso, our in-house art gallery, will treat our guests to changing artworks and art forms every few months.
